Pandemonium Police directing traffic The Hammer approves This is the first of the old KFC's that Popeye's took over to open its doors. I think it has only been open a couple days. Was quite surprised to see police directing traffic! Cop told me it would be an hour for drive-thru and a half-hour wait inside. Haven't seen anything like this since they opened the Krispy Kreme in Maple Grove. Decided to park it in the nearby mall parking lot and head on in. The line did not look that long when I walked in, but it moved incredibly SLOW. Think they are still working out some of the kinks. Probably took about twenty minutes from entry until I had food in my hands. Went with three pieces of the spicy chicken with a biscuit and red rice and beans. My only complaint about the food was the wing piece had almost no meat on it at all. The breasts, however, were fantastic. Thick, juicy and flavorful. I like the chicken here better than at KFC, and I like me some KFC. Oh, and unlike the Minneapolis location, the Popeye's here takes credit cards.

Horrible, couldn't even chew my popcorn shrimp. Went through drive thru and wasn't given a utensil for my coleslaw or any napkins either. Plus the service was lacking...

Went there on a Sunday at 12:30 and the drive thru lady said they weren't open yet, I checked the hours and it said they were supposed to open at 10:30. No explanation was given, terrible customer service.

Again KFC is better and cheaper. I ordered 3 pieces of chicken, popcorn shrimp and 3 pieces of fish; the total is $20....(Ok! I thought I would have a huge dinner with this amount of money) The spicy chicken is not spicy or even mild. The popcorn shrimp, the shrimp is super duper tiny. The catfish pieces are...oh mind extremely small.... I really want my $20 back :-(

Update: My apologies! This review was for the Brooklyn Center location. I do not know how to take this review down, so I updated it instead.

Waited at the drive thru for 20 minutes with only one car ahead of me and then waited another 5 minutes for someone to take my order. While waiting the person in front me seems to be having issues with there order, not a good sign. After getting home to eat I bite a piece of chicken that was mostly breading and oil. The next piece had a little more meat but had to drain all the oil before I could eat it. Flavor was ok, KFC is much better. Too bad Popeyes replaced the kfc's in my area. People there really didn't seem to care.

This is actually in Crystal not BP, but either way this place sucks. It's near my house so I'll give it 2 stars for convenience. Minus 3 stars for the lousy staff members who screw up every order (and I really mean EVERY order). Also, it doesn't matter what time you go to that place, but they will always be out of a majority of the sides and are so stinking rude when telling you. So I got fed up and just asked them "Ok, instead of me telling you what sides I want why don't you just tell me what you have." Only to get frustrated at the cashier (and I have a high frustration tolerance limit) and say screw this I don't want anything. I've been here enough times to know this place sucks. Damnit I'm removing 1 star - this place deserves NO stars. My blood is boiling thinking about this place 'cause it's just bad, bad, BAD!

4 stars for the spicy chicken. 3 stars for the mashed potatoes and gravy- really there was no gravy. 3 stars for biscuits because they tasted burned. I will go back for the chicken and would like to try the catfish and hush puppies.

Having been to the North Minneapolis location a handful of times I thought to give this joint a try since its corporate and not a franchise compared to mpls. The place wasn't dirty but the employees just didn't seem to care for anyone, the food didn't taste amazing or as fresh as it could be and they didn't offer mac n cheese. WHY NO MAC? pure disappointment! I understand its a fast food location but why not make a better attempt at your first Popeyes location that isn't a franchise? Needless to say I won't be driving back here for fried chicken better stick with the local cub or rainbow deals since KFC isn't any better.

As someone who grew up in the south where these restaurants are always around a corner. I relish the chance to eat it up here in Minnesota. That being the case I was really looking forward to my meal today and the ones in the past. However every time I've gone to this location, despite knowing it never changes, I am greeted with horrible staff who just don't care. To the point where you can hear them laugh to each other when they're out of something, and never remember to add sauce you've asked for. Nor napkins, nor even asking if you need any dip for 4 wraps.. Just look at the reviews! I rarely complain about fast food places, really. The prep area seems filthy, the person who takes your order, is different than who takes your money, who is also different than who hands you your food in the window. So asking ANY of them for the sauce or even a napkin or even if you wanted to add something to your order (which it will be wrong so you might as well add several things at the window) is just about useless. Aside from the service and how its ran being terrible the staff is equally as horrid. No hello, no thank you. Seems like you're an inconvenience to be spending money on their location. I for one will NEVER return to this place and I will notify others to do the same. TL;DR? I love Pepeye's food this place doesn't do it justice. This location sucks The staff sucks Go to another location if you can.

I have been to this location a couple times and both times the service was bad. The first time I watched 3 people that ordered after me get their food. I had only ordered a po'boy combo and when I asked about my order they looked a little lost. The second time I ordered a 3pc with beans and rice and a half and half sweet tea. At first they told me they were out of sweet tea and then I could hear someone in the background say they did. Got to the drive-thru window and I had to give my order all over again, twice. When I got home I only found two pieces in the box (charged for 3) and my tea was not sweet (I guess I got my answer to the mystery of the sweet tea). I would have checked my beverage before I left but I never got a straw... The food was decent. It's a chain so quality control is fairly consistent. Just make sure you double check your order and follow up if there are any delays.

I don't ever write reviews for fast food ever... First off this isn't about the food quality we all know what to expect. It's fast food. Service here is horrible I'm not rude but I worked around here on a construction site for about a month! We went here 5 times and 3 of the 5 times they were out of one of the pops and once they didn't have pop at all? People were yelling because their orders were wrong. This happened almost every time we went there. We waited once for realistically about 30 minutes and walked out. (The last time) me and my dad still joke and laugh about this place. I like Popeyes for fast food chicken just not this one!

Gave this place 2 tries. Both times KFC would of been better. Not all that good at all.

Worst fast food ever! Never ate at a Popeyes before and decided to try it for the first time. Went through the drive thru and asked about the kids menu. He rattled it off then proceeded to tell us we're going to have to make it quick he's on a quota for drive thru times. Got the food and it was horrible! Chicken tenders are a joke. More breading than chicken. I'm not even sure what parts of the chicken I was served as the pieces were hideous looking. We couldn't even eat our meal. Thank goodness McDonald's is right outside their parking lot so we ended up going there too. Yes, this really did happen! Good luck meeting drive through quotas with this poor service & quality! We will never be back.

Wow where do I begin. I was excited to check out Popeyes for the 1st time especially since this new location has been so busy they had uniformed security officers directing traffic since the drive thru line was so long when they first opened. Tonight around 9:30pm there were only 3 cars in line so I stopped in and went thru the drive thru. We ordered two 3 piece all white (1 breast 2 wings) meals. They come with only 1 side, a biscuit and a drink. We chose mashed potatoes. We also ordered a $1.79 side of coleslaw, a $1.79 side of mac n cheese and 2 extra biscuits for $1.00. Total came to $19.91. The staff was friendly and fast. I was immediately handed my bags of food after paying. I than drove home without checking accuracy. We got home to find out they forget the extra biscuits I paid for. Oh well, not a huge deal. What pissed me off though was the size of the side items. They were tiny! For $1.79 the runny mac n chz amounted to less then 1/4 cup. (I measured!) Same with the slaw and mashed potatoes. It was ridiculous...beyond a rip off! I did enjoy the "spicy" flavor of the chicken. The breast was large however most people would've been turned off by the slight pink color of the meat on the inside close to the bones. I do plan on writing an email to Popeyes regarding the biscuits I paid for and didn't get and see how they respond. I will not go back.

Finally, MN is getting some real food on the fast food circuit. I love popeyes and this location has not let us down. Other than a few minor issues, the chicken has always been perfect and the sides are great. Service can be spotty, but after all it is fast food. Love, love, love.

Customer Service was a bit slow--however loved the naked chicken tenders very flavorful. I do think the strips and tenders are better than 8 piece selection. The sides are just okay, nothing spectacular. Overall, I think the place is overrated and I prefer the Lake Street location.

I had to see what all the fuss was about. I pull into the parking lot, and came to a sudden stop from the cars waiting in the drive thru. The parking lot has a CRAPY set up. You could get blocked in the Popeye's parking lot if you choose to park there, from the long line from the drive thru. Once inside, there was a line. Waited in line for 15 minutes before I was able to place my order(gave me time to decide what to get since this was my first time in a Popeye's) I ordered the 3 pc chicken combo meal with mash potato/gravy for my side and also 3 pc tenders with a separate side of Cajun rice. My order came up, got bagged and I was out the door. Now for the food... The 3 pc chicken was awesome!! Only downside the wings are small than normal, and little meat on them. The chicken breast was big, and very juicy. The spicy breading on the chicken is out of this world. KFC, you have nothing on Popeye's... sorry! The mash potatoes and gravy should belong to its own food group. FANTASTIC!!!! The chicken tenders are just as good, but was disappointed that whoever packed my tenders needs a lesson on counting, because I only got 2. As for the Cajun rice I cannot comment on it because I NEVER GOT it. I realize the place was busy, but a lot of times with customers, you only have one chance with them to decide if they will come back or not. Needless to say I will be back just for the simple fact the breading and mash potatoes and gravy is like a drug... You need more!!

Oh no... I've been waiting for all the fuss to die down to visit the brand new Popeyes, and decided tonight I'd brave the lines. Parking is horrendous, due to the very long drive- Thu line but I'm excited, so I'll deal. I wait in line to order, there's not that many people inside, but it's taking forever. When it's my turn, I order the number 6 combo... Three chicken tenders spicy, mashed potatoes and a coke. Then the cashier tells me I can't get MP only fries, but the sign above me stated otherwise? Confused!?! I can get the potatoes with the 5 tender meal, so I go for it. This requires a manager? Now I'm really confused.... About this time a woman comes to pick up her order and it's wrong very wrong, the cashier and customer argue about it. Before they bring her the correct items. The manager overrides the register I pay for my food and sit down. I wait 15 minutes for my number to be called. I go to pick up my order, but the apparently are now out of all sauce for their chicken tenders... Who doesn't have ranch or BBQ?!? And why didn't they mention that to me when I ordered. About this time a woman is announcing that if you wanted spicy chicken, they were out and it was going to be another 15 minuets before it was ready. This location is not busy, it's just poorly managed. The cashiers are rude, and do not have training on the menus or register. It's been over a month, I really would have thought they'd have gotten the hang of it by now. The food was good, I'd have liked the chicken more if Id have had some sauce. Overall it took me an hour and a half I'm fairly sure I saw some guy order a pizza from the drive Thu line... Just sayin'

The wicked chicken isn't on the menu, but I've been able to order it and it has been amazing. I like the little combo I get (chicken, fries, biscuit, soda) for a little over $5. The biscuits at Popeye's are better than Red Lobster's cheddar bay biscuits. Service has been brusque but quick enough. A woman in line told me to ask for the Cajun Sparkle spices. They're little packets of peppery seasoning and they grew on me. She said she was from New Orleans and it's just not physically possible for someone from Louisiana to not know what tastes good.

I do not know if Popeye's is better than KFC(KFC's mashed potatoes and gravy are better), but it was quite enjoyable. This location was very efficient in processing everybody's orders. The dining area was clean and orderly. Certainly worth going again. I would suggest that one either get there early or late for lunch. It became busy pretty quickly, and the parking (if you are eating on premise) is limited.

First off, in love Popeyes....usually. Tried this location and its bad. Ordered chic strips spicy and they were barely warm, temp wise. 10 seconds after I requested sauces, dude had already forgot. Was supposed to get 3 strips, more like 2 and a half. 1st time with Popeyes Mac and cheese, gross.

HORRIBLE LOCATION! Disinterested employees with an attitude and the SLOWEST SERVICE. What really irked me is how they tend to take better care of their customers of color. They get smiles and big hellos.....not the rest of us. The rest of us....ehh. I had the most pathetic and dried out 3 piece....during dinner rush. Sides were half full in containers and they were "out of sauce" for chicken tenders. But they do NOT tell you that when they order. And never a hello or thank you. Just a blank stare and a mumbled "do you know what you want".

Every once in awhile I just need to indulge with some fried chicken. I don't expect the world or a gourmet meal, but this was kind of a let down. The experience seems to vary by location too. Chicken breasts were smallish and the spicy was not that spicy in my opinion. Coleslaw was probably the best part of the meal. Fries- skinny, seasoned and just kind of meh. Biscuits- meh Location was super busy, but its expected to be until the novelty wares off. I have to say for quick chicken, I'll have to find a KFC or stick to the deli to go chicken when I have a hankering for fried chicken. This just didn't hit the spot.
